Strategy and development

 Preface

Competitiveness as a driving engine of the general development of human society is determined by the ability of its organizations to succeed in global markets. Competitiveness in a given geopolitical environment is currently achieved and maintained mainly through innovation. Innovation activities in organizations are considered a highly interactive process in which intensive contacts with customers, suppliers and various cooperations have a fundamental impact on the ability of companies to offer competitive solutions.

The strengthening of the industrial base of the Slovak Republic, including the material and technological bases of individual regions, the establishment of new businesses and active business among small and medium-sized enterprises based on the principles of the single market, using the potential of digital technologies, is determined by applying the requirements and measures of the circular economy. Extending the principles of the circular economy from small and medium-sized enterprises as pioneers to mainstream economic entities will be a decisive element in achieving the goal of climate neutrality by 2050 and decoupling economic growth from resource use, while ensuring long-term competitiveness. Promoting innovative models based on a closer relationship with customers, adapting to customer requirements, the economy of sharing resources and the collaborative economy, which are driven by digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data (big data), blockchain and artificial intelligence, will not only accelerate circulation, but also dematerialization of the economy and reduction of dependence on primary raw materials. For the common citizen, the circular economy will bring high-quality, functional and safe products that are efficient and affordable, last longer and are designed in a way that guarantees reuse, repair and high-quality recycling. Sustainable services, product-as-a-service models and digital solutions will bring a better quality of life, innovative jobs and better knowledge and skills.

Taxonomy and ESG

The management of the cluster fully identifies with the EU Taxonomy, which contains a classification system for the creation of environmentally sustainable economic activities. Each member of the cluster undertakes to develop its business activity in such a way that its economic activity can be qualified as environmentally sustainable. The basis of the EU taxonomy is the gradual fulfillment of the general conditions, which contain six environmental objectives.

Climate change mitigation;

Adaptation to climate change;

 Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources;

Transition to a circular economy;

Prevention and control of environmental pollution;

Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Fulfilling the general conditions for the assessment raises expectations for consistent, comparable and transparent information on climate and other information on environmental, social and corporate governance issues.

Achieving these goals in society as well as in individual companies is conditioned by monitoring the sustainability of companies, responsible behavior in the entire value chain, setting and observing measurable criteria for the areas of environmental, social and management activities (so-called ESG – environment, social, government). . Indicators in the field of ESG are an important prerequisite not only for compliance with regulations, but also for the performance of companies.

Vision

The vision of the founding members of the cluster is to contribute with their professional activities to the creation of conditions for the emergence of a circular economy at the regional level, the sustainability of a competitive and comprehensively developed region with the effective use of all human, material and technical resources while preserving natural, cultural and historical values, monuments, quality of life and environment. The vision of the cluster and its development is based on the strategic documents of the EU – New EU action plan for the circular economy, For a cleaner and more competitive Europe, SR – Visions and strategies for the development of Slovakia until 2030 – long-term strategy for the sustainable development of the Slovak Republic – Slovakia 2030 and TTSK – Economic Plan development and social development, Low Carbon Strategy of Trnava County.

The permanent direction towards a more ecological solution for production, services, supporting processes and a low-carbon region is aimed at a comprehensive approach to mitigation and adaptation to climate change, sustainable use of resources and increased protection of nature and the landscape. All measures in the area of the environment support the growth of jobs, such as green jobs, which contribute to the fulfillment of social policy goals and strengthen the preparation as well as the implementation of energy management plans, in the context of the regional and local level of the low-carbon circular economy.

Strategy

By continuous and gradual implementation of individual parts of the presented vision, we want to achieve a regenerated, urbanized forest and agricultural landscape with energy, environmental, social, food, water and climate security, an economically prosperous region and thus meet the global goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030.

The main priority and strategic, specific and partial objectives of the cluster are derived from the established global TTSK goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 40%, to which EEKTTK signed up with this vision and strategy.

The main priority of the cluster is the protection of the environment in the region, the sustainable development of the region through the correct setting of the strategic planning of public authorities and organizations, the alignment of the priorities of the region with the development potential of the regions, the development of a creative industry based on green transformation with high added value, an increase in the degree of automation in production enterprises, improving the quality of market services, setting changes and conditions in public procurement, introducing a circular economy based on elements of the digital economy (human capital, the possibility of connecting to the Internet, integration of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, e-government, digital public services) introducing innovations from research and development to practice.

Priority 1

  Creation of an innovative scheme for the development of the TTSK economy and its permanent maintenance

The cluster creates conditions for interested parties for regional, interregional as well as foreign cooperation with the possibility of connecting activities in the field of innovation and focusing on strengthening the economy. The regional innovation scheme as a new platform provides space for networking through its innovative actors. In the scheme, it is necessary to involve the decisive components of the management of the Trnava self-governing region, components of the academic community, the business sector as well as non-profit organizations engaged in activities in the energy, environmental and economic fields. The ongoing performance of the tasks and results of the platform will be promoted in various forms (lectures, workshops, seminars, conferences, creation of dual education, lifelong learning) in order to increase awareness in reducing the low carbon footprint and sustainability of the functional innovation scheme of the region. An important role in the spread of innovations and technology transfer is played by mutual ties between the public sector and the business sector, public authorities for the purpose of supporting the social policy of companies and organizations. It is necessary to create conditions to support the regional economy by stabilizing human resources, developing the natural, ecological and economic resources of the region. Support of business activities, by the cluster, based on individual creativity, skill and talent. Creating conditions for the creation of a creative industry that uses the results of intellectual activity in the field of art, culture and other industries based on creative activity, production and even restaurants (re-design). These activities have the potential to create capital and jobs through the use of intellectual property.

Implementation of Priority 1 will be carried out by fulfilling strategic objective no. 1 and No. 2
